Return of the Vacationeers, Week Three

Yes, we jumped right into the week...

The Junior Vacationeers spent a week mixing potions and making spell books in their Harry Potter class
while the adults indulged in some more shopping.

We finally found a new hammock to replace the old and broken one.

.
Granddad was worn out from his physical therapy so enjoyed watching others work

Mama Vacationeer earned her keep with some serious trimming of the grape vine.

In the afternoons we visited the skateboard park, where we were treated to a demonstration of skill by Brother Vacationeer.

Sister Vacationeer visited the barn to ride her tall steed, Azzy, again.

Do note the float being built in the arena - you will see it again in the 4th of July parage.

No week would be complete without a treat!

Return of the Vacationeers, Week Two

Bringing the week into focus... While the kids were busy playing quiddich and making wands at their Harry Potter class, the adults did a little shopping.

Since temperatures stayed in the 90's all week, we entertained friends in the pool.
Brother Vacationeer was lucky to find a fellow Star Wars enthusiast.

We could hardly wait to run off to the annual Rock Show.
We all came home with treasures.
We spread everything out on the table to admire each other's finds.
We even had a little bit of money left in our pockets.
The week ended with friends and home-made ice cream at the annual Berry Party.
We really enjoyed the porch swing.
On to Week Three!

Mimi's 80th!

After years of sneaking about, this year we approached the Birthday Event straight on. For once Mimi didn't flee town to avoid the day. So the usual conspirators showed up in daylight. Caught these two snuggling out on the porch.
"You have to come inside" said Mimi.
The living room ceiling was full of red and white balloons.
A whole cloud of balloons!

Mimi can hardly keep her feet on the ground.
A balloon for every year...
Happy Birthday Mimi!

The Return of the Vacationeers, Week One

We have packed a lot into our first week together! The Junior Vacationeers have been busy since they arrived.

Brother Vacationeer helped with yard work.

Both helped feed the birds - and the chipmunks, bunnies, squirrels and deer.

There was horse camp for Sister.

With a few non-horse surprises.
Brother resumed skateboarding ,

enjoyed new toys, went to three days of camp, and spent the rest of the week sick in bed.

Mystery Mansion made a reappearance.

and the first tomatoes ripened. All this before the official first day of summer!

A Morning Outing with Mimi

Every year the Historical Society has a fund-raising "garage sale." There are always treasures to examine
but we managed to resist temptation pretty well.
That is to say, we each only came away with one bag full.
Then we needed sustenance. Tea and scones....
can't resist a fresh blueberry scone.

A brief commercial

We interrupt this regularly scheduled day of continuous plumbing for a commercial.
I am here to praise Glass Wax, one of the greatest products ever invented.
Especially for people with glass tile walls.
Especially black glass tile walls, which show every streak and smudge.
The old can of Glass Wax has been with us long enough that if it were a child it would be in high school. Long enough that they don't make it anymore.
This would have been a tragedy if it were not for the Vermont Country Store, home of stuff they don't make anymore.
They have Window Wax, which appears to be a very close copy of our old and valued Glass Wax.
So all day I have been wiping it on, wiping it off, wiping it on, wiping it off, wiping - you get the idea.
Ha! Look at those glass tiles shine! This picture is taken looking at the wall, folks, the black glass tile wall, which is reflecting like crazy thanks to...
Glass Wax!
We now return to our regularly scheduled plumbing.
