Still singin' that song

You know, the one that wails:  "oh, oh what I want to know -oh - where does the time go?????"
Wasn't it just December?
Didn't Mimi and I just go out looking for inspiration for decorations?
Weren't we just yesterday thinking about getting ready for Christmas?
Surely a whole month hasn't gone by since the Christmas concert?
And the cards - are they really all sent?
The decorations all taken down now...
the last of the goodies gone?
Christmas eve was surely just a day or so ago --
 and Christmas morning?
Not very long ago.
 The company?
How the time flew when they were here!
All safely back home already -
 the mystery mansion game completed,
the special Christmas plates put away -
how did this happen?
What I want to know is:
Where did the time go?????

Granddad's Memorial Day

I took Granddad over to Meadowood to see the World War II exhibit for Memorial Day.
He was not particularly interested.
He'd been there, seen that.
He was MUCH more interested in the traditional grilling and picnic.
Because it doesn't matter how many watermelons you've had in your life,
the one you have right now is best.

After the Fall

Mimi is in rehab at Meadowood, where Charles lived the last several years.
This is handy, because ALL the nurses and aides know Mimi.  They are always looking out for her -- and looking for her.   She has a tiny claustrophobic half-a-room but she is seldom in her bed.
If she's awake, she's out!
Yesterday we sat for an hour by the pond.
Lots of other creatures were also out enjoying the (finally!) Spring sunshine.

Reluctance

Now that it is nearly time to go, Granddad isn't sure he really is ready.
 He likes the nursing home.
He likes his room, even with his talkative roommate.
He really likes the food - meat at every meal!
He likes his afternoon cup of coffee by the fire.
He likes roaming the halls and looking at the art work.
He likes looking out the windows.
He likes the way they take care of him.
He's even fond of therapy:  "Oh they work me hard!" he says.
And he loves having a whole staff to take care of him.
He's going to miss all this when he comes home!

Granddad's new digs

Granddad has moved! He will spend two weeks here, in a rehab unit.
He has a pleasant room with a window that gets late afternoon sun.
He's working really hard to get strong and able to come home for Christmas.
