Just like a postcard

Sunday was a lovely cool day and Mimi wanted to go for a walk.
We'd go look at the gardens around the president's house on campus, she decided.
The shadows were  lovely on the warm old brick as Mimi posed on the porch.
Right beside the door was a giant deep green Luna moth.
We admired beds of vibrant flowers, reds and oranges and bright yellows.
The woods on campus glowed with an intense green.
Hard to believe we're right in the heart of a busy university.
Walking with Mimi is not exactly like walking.
It's more like take two or three steps, stop and comment, take another two or three steps, stop...
it is a slow stroll with narration.
Mimi chatted with Hoagy here about an evening they spent bar-hopping (he drank, she didn't) and I admired the huge red begonia pots on the light posts.
It wasn't until we were back at the car that I realized that I wasn't seeing exactly what Mimi was seeing.
It came to me when I exclaimed over a planting of deep red flowers and Mimi insisted that they were pink. Light pink at that.
It wasn't her vision, impaired as it may be.
Nope.
It was my brand new golden sunglasses.
I'd been strolling through a remarkable landscape, reminiscent of those tinted postcards from the past, and much more beautiful than any of my photos.
I wish you could have seen it the way I saw it!
