New Car Sing Along

"Take me riding in your car -car
Take me riding in your car -car
Take me for a ride, take me for a ride,
Riding in the car-car.
Climb, climb rattle on the front seat
Spree spry spraddle on the back seat
Front seat, back seat,
Riding in my car.
I'm gonna let you blow the horn,
I'm gonna let you blow the horn
oooohgah!  oooohgah!
Riding in my car.
Engine it goes brooom, broooom,
Engine it goes broooom, brooom,
Front seat, back seat,
Riding in my car.
I'm gonna zoom you home again,
I'm gonna zoom you home again,
Brooom, brooom, broooob brroooom ,
I'll take you riding in my car"

(Song by Woody Guthrie, although you may remember the Peter, Paul and Mary version better.
Modelling by the Boston Gentleman.)

Down dog

"Walking?" says the Boston Gentleman, "There's walking and then there's walking."
"I don't mind a stroll up a nice shady path.
Especially when there are nice smells
and those little drops of bunny candy to snuffle up.
But this stuff about exercise -
I don't think so.
I'm just going to lie down here.
Even if we are miles from the house.
Maybe I'll roll around a little.
Not going to walk any more.
You go on without me."

A morning in the life of...

"Come on, people, it's morning", says the Sidekick Cat impatiently.
"So what if it's still dark out.
So what if the alarm hasn't gone off yet.
You people sleep too late.
It's time to get up.
You have things to do!
IMPORTANT things.
I'll show you.
Just follow me.
Right down here.
See that empty feeder?
See that bin of food?
Come on, people, let's see some breakfast!"
Meanwhile...
"Go away," says the Boston Gentleman.
"It's way too early to get up."

Urban Waters

A river excursion - what a great idea! A new river to me - the Cumberland. A river I know nothing about.
So I am expecting some wildlife, bird watching, sitting out on the decks enjoying nature...

I am not expecting a sit-down meal in a huge inside dining room.

The shore slipped by outside the windows as we chatted and joked and ate.

When the very loud, kinda hokey country music show tuned up their electric guitars, I left for the quieter decks.
And discovered the skyline of Nashville off the bow.

The "wild life" we cruised by was the Hard Rock Cafe sort.
The river was narrow,
crossed and criss-crossed by all sorts of bridges.

I was fascinated by the structures we steamed under,
and by the hypnotic motion and sound of the bright red paddlewheel.
An unexpected pleasure - but not the only unexpected waterway on this trip.
Later in the day we visited the Opryland Hotel.
"Who wants a tour of the hotel?" asked our host.
I thought "Tour a hotel? How interesting can that be?"
Ha!  Shows how little I knew.
 There was another river
 and more bridges,
and a two story waterfall--
all INDOORS in giant glassed-in conservatories.
Another incredible and totally unexpected pleasure!

Going to Nashville

 Brand new shoes?
Must be going somewhere?

Yes, a weekend trip to Nashville, Tennessee

to meet up with these folks:
some of whom we hadn't seen in about 47 years.
And since we were in "Music City"
 we naturally checked out guitars
at the world famous Gruhn's guitar store.
With great restraint, this guitarist only played one of the fabulous instruments there.
After all, we had more to see and do!
Dinners! Excursions! Tours!
The Pledge Class of 1965, along with a couple of Big Brothers, had a fine time.
(This picture taken just before the portrait of Roy Acuff fell off the mantle on their heads.)
Couldn't visit Nashville without going to the Opry, right?
 Wooooheeee!
You will be glad to know that these are the souvenirs I didn't bring back for you.
(But if you really want one,  let me know...)

Look cute, Cat, I'm taking your picture

Cute? Seriously, you want ME, the infamous Sidekick Cat, to be cute???
Or maybe you think I can't do it?
Oh, I can do cute.
Now...
come a little closer.
Closer.
You hesitate?
Why ever is that?
Aren't I cute?
Pay no attention to that claw over there.

Not a fun holiday for the Boston Gentleman

It's a holiday, people.
You know, picnics and grilling out.
We should be talking treats.

So who had the brilliant idea that we'd celebrate the holiday with a bath?
