Company

The old house had been sitting quietly in the summer sun, while weeds grew up around it and the only sound was the chip of the chipmunk and the call of the birds.
The people had been away visiting.
Even when they were home, the house was quiet.
Then came August.

Company came from clear across the country!
The old house woke up!
There were people having breakfast in the kitchen,
there was the sound of the old piano in the dining room.
The old red rooster was rocking again!
The pretty ponies were prancing again!
Umbrellas were opened!
There were people around the picnic table,
there were cousins in the pool,

and the pool was full of splashes and action again.
There was the excitement of getting ready for a wedding
and a birthday.
Thank you to our company!
You brought the old house to life again!

A Weekend with... Splash!

The water is just right this weekend, a bit cool at first, then comfortable.
Daisy is wondering -- who will join her in the pool?
Dr. Hausfrau will - in her brand new birthday bikini.
There's something else in the pool....
the Jellyfish from Florida!  And it's escaping...
 but not for long.
What else is in the pool?
A ball!  Who's going to play ball with Daisy?
Mimi is ready to play.  Toss the ball!
Dr. Hausfrau will throw it back with her feet.
Here are the squid!  Let's toss the squid!
The Boston Gentleman gets a bit excited with all this activity.

It's a good thing HoosierKitty and the Indy Duo are keeping a close eye on everything.

And as for Daisy shivering and chilly after several hours....
"PLEASE can we stay in a little longer?????"

The visit of the Pless People

Hello to the Pless People, who made a stop in B'town yesterday! We had perfect summer weather to welcome you.
I'm glad you like exploring.

The pool was at its peak of growth, full of cattails and pickerel weed and waterlilies and big frogs.

There was even an entertaining turtle to pet and watch,

and an opportunity for everyone to relax.

We had to sift a few leaves and spiders out of the sand, which turned out to be just the sort of work we like.

After a picnic with Mimi and Hoosierkitty, (with fresh Michigan blueberries, thank you!) we were glad to float around in the cool refreshing pool.

We're so glad you came to see us!

Hope the rest of your trip is fun too.

Heat Index = 101

Oh we love getting wet when it's hot! Water! Chase it down! Get all wet! Love that hose! Woof woof woof!
Not so fond of drying off.

Too bad Dog can't join us in the pool.
Wish you all were here to get wet too!

First of Summer, mid-day

Mid way through our first day of Summer Socks announces someone coming up the drive way.

The bees hurry to gather as much pollen as they can before the machine turns our clover field into a lawn.

The buzzard floats overhead in the warm sunny sky.

Granddad and Socks sit outside enjoying the breeze

while I do some cleaning and maintenance on the still-unused-this-year pool.

"Soon," I say to myself, "I'll get in that water soon. After all, it IS Summer now."

Better than reality TV

The long awaited new pool cover arrived today, along with two worker guys to install it.
Granddad has been waiting for this.
Some days he'd ask three or four times if they'd come with the cover yet.
So when they pulled up, I woke him up.
He may not be able to go outside (the steps are too much yet) but he found a good vantage point to watch them work.
Now that's entertainment.

Jellyfish

Not enough activity in the pool? What we need is a jellyfish! One that lights up at night and strobes a variety of colors. They have those things in Florida, you know..... and the Bloomingtonauts arrived with one for our pool.

Summer Begins

I don't care what the calendar says. So what if Summer isn't official until June 21st?The pool is open.
That makes it Summer here.

The Senior Vacationeer arrives

Still jet-lagged, the Senior Vacationeer has finally joined us. The Junior Vacationeers were so excited when he arrived. They wanted him to see everything and do everything right away.
Sleep?
Who needs sleep?
He's up early with his cup of tea to watch the sun rise.
A Junior Vacationeer shows him how to fill the bird feeders

And takes him for a cooling dip in the pool.

Watch this! Look out below!
Poor Senior Vacationeer!
No relaxing with this energetic Vacationeer around. Sooner or later the jet lag will pass and everyone will be on the same time.
