Restrictions

Look! Look!
There's one of those long-legged bouncing things in there!"
I WANT it!
See that?
It's a good-smelling bunny thing!
I WANT it!
There's a swimmy thing in here!
It's wiggling around!
I WANT it!
We have got to talk about this leash.

Yours...or mine?

"Ah, there you are, my friend," says the Sidekick Cat.
"Let's have a little chat."
"A philosophical discussion about, say, sharing food.
For example, you have a bowl of granola. I do not"
"Granola is my favorite breakfast.
And we ARE friends, right?"
"Friends should share."
The Boston Gentleman sighs.
"That cat!"

Rewards

"Wait a minute!" says the Sidekick Cat.
"You got a treat!  I can smell it!"
"Okay, Human, where's mine?"

Morning

Just a peaceful morning napping and bird watching,
while one of us (not pictured) nurses a cold --
but it is actually only a brief lull in the action.
The Boston Gentleman finds a ball...
the Sidekick Cat contemplates heights.
("Yes! I can jump that high!"
"You're not just going to sit there, are you?
You are going to throw the ball, aren't you?"

Company again

More people came!
Old-friend-people who know about ear rubs and chasing the ball.
While they were here more old-friend people visited and everyone sat around in the living room all evening just to play with me!
They called it "catching up."
We had a fine time.
They all went to the store and came home with sacks of wonderful smelling stuff.
Especially the cheese.
Then they invited me to a picnic!
I love picnics!
But do you think they let me actually EAT any of that good-smelling food???
Not a bite.

Getting comfortable?

"Think of me as a pillow," orders the Sidekick Cat.
"And keep on rocking or I'll bite your hair again."

Company

"There are a lot of people to keep track of here," sighs the Boston Gentleman.
"Like the Uncle and Cousin who came this week.
Talk about confusing - they both had the same name!"
"I stayed close when they were here,
watching the Cousin one
 and watching the Uncle one.
But they didn't take me along to see the Granddad one,
so I didn't get to watch them there.
Said they had fun anyway."

Good news from the Vet

"I got to ride in the car!
I love riding in the car!
I went to the Vet!
I loved the Vet!
The Vet loved me!"
"And best of all, I don't have to have that awful medicine poked in my eye anymore!
The Vet says it's healed and all that cloudy stuff is scar tissue.
Let's go in the car again!"

Unpacking

The Boston Gentleman wants to get everything out of his bag.
"All my things!  I love this one!  And this one!  And this one!"
The Sidekick Cat is disdainful.
He has no baggage.

I'm (not) watching you

"I know, it does look as if I'm trying to keep an eye on you." says the Boston Gentleman.
"But, really, I was just coming in this room anyway."
"I just happened to be here when you turned around."
"And I am certainly not watching you, " says the Sidekick Cat.
"I am not even looking at you.  Not me."
"When I DO look at you, you'll know it."

Let sleeping dogs lie...please

Hello.  It's the Boston Gentleman here again.
I know, I know, I promised to blog while the Real People are off travelling.
But surely you don't expect me to do anything today.
I'm tired!
It was an exhausting trip out here from the East Coast.
And the sun is shining.
The Sidekick Cat is stretched out in his bit of sunlight.
And I have mine.
So just relax.  I'll catch you up on things when I have a little more energy.

June Catch-up (including one hot dog)

Oh June was a full month and I didn't take nearly enough pictures and I didn't keep up the blog.
Now I am inspired by the Bloomingtonauts (who did take lots of pictures!) to do a little catching up.
Our themes for June:  company and performance!
Granddad was delighted to have company on the front porch of Garden Villa, where he is now staying.
He was so happy that folks came such a long way just to see him!
Then the Bloomingtonauts arrived to begin several weeks of activity,
in which we managed to get in lots of typical Bloomington sights--
the Farmer's Market
the B-Line trail
Lake Griffy
and our old house, now completely redone.
Wow!  You should see inside!
(Scroll down, it's the "50's Ranch Reinvented near Bryan Park" )
We had celebrations --
Father's Day
and Midsummer.
There was storytelling
(we taught a two week course together)
and singing --
Granddad is even singing along, "Frankie and Johnny were sweethearts..."
In fact he is still telling us about the evening when the Bloomingtonaut played and sang songs that he actually knew!
And we got to hear the Bloomingtonaut's original songs performed on stage at Max's Place.
Okay, July, come on - can you top all this?
